Christmas would not be Christmas for our 50 care leavers without sacks packed with presents… so thanks to Marilyn at Sheer Laser Clinic in Church Street for some epic fund raising to buy these wonderful Christmas sacks.
The sacks will be distributed to 50 young local people who have just left the care system who have been invited to stunning location in the heart of the borough to enjoy a scrumptious and magical Christmas Day Dinner.
The event will create a special day for people who may never have had that experience or even more, had very negative experiences at Christmas, to create new memories and bring people together as one ‘family’.
People of all ages and backgrounds are pooling their energies and resources to create a traditional, family-feel Christmas Day for care leavers aged between 18 and 25. Richmond will be only the second London Borough to make this happen.
The inspiration for this project is the poet Lemn Sissay. Watch below an interview with Lemn which explains the magic of the Richmond Christmas Day Dinner.
